Who am I?

To be honest, sometimes I don’t know either but I will try my best for you to get to know me. Let’s start with my name: ovalie - fr: [ovalˈi] is the name I have chosen to give myself a year before starting this project. The pronunciation is in french and the meaning behind it as a name can mean help or creativity/artistry which I find very fitting.

Enough about my name though.

I have always been surrounded by music given that my parents are pianists and my whole family has had at least some kind of experience in the music world. So the fact that I have always wanted to express myself creatively shouldn’t come to anyones surprise. For that reason I started up as a ballet dancer at the age of 6 ½ and hung onto that until I turned 18.

During that time I realized how much I enjoyed singing in the car on the way to my weekly lessons and decided to start writing songs. Not only did I enjoy the process of songwriting but it also felt freeing to write about my life in an artistic way. Poetry can be such a powerful and beautiful tool to process emotions and situations — wether it is through reading or writing!

The feeling to help other people has always been a part of me but I never quite knew how to implement it into my life without being taken advantage of. This is where music comes into play. I always liked the idea of helping people through my art — even if it only reaches one person. No one has to sit alone with their feelings or think that they are the only ones feeling that way!

I am just at the beginning of this new journey as a 23 year old independent artist. I produce my own music and am in university to become an audio engineer.
